At present there is insufficient head room within the shelter, therefore we have removed the existing concrete flat roof and erected a simple steel frame to create additional head room. The new roofing and additional walling (created by raising the wall head) have been clad with corrugated iron to create a visual divide between old and new. Windows have been positioned on both gables to allow morning and late afternoon sun into the space. Render sought all necessary Council approvals as part of the project also. The project is due on site later in the year. The King Abdullah Petrolium Studies and Research Centre (KAPSARC) is a new global centre for energy and environmental research and is currently under construction in Saudi Arabia. A steel and glass structure was erected along the side of the house allowing the house and garden to integrate. The extension is modern and transparent in form which maintains the integrity of the original traditional property.
